Mandate

Mandate of the Fund. 

The Fund’s core mandate is defined in section 128 of Act 1124, which directs the Electrical and Electronic Waste Management Fund shall;   Provide financial resources for the management of electrical and electronic waste; and Reduce the adverse impact of electrical and electronic waste on human health and the environment. 

Our Objectives

To achieve the objectives of the Electrical and Electronic Waste Management Fund, resources are applied toward:

Recycling Infrastructure

Supporting the construction, expansion, and maintenance of e-waste recycling centres and treatment plants.

Research & Innovation

Advancing research in e-waste prevention, preservation, treatment, and recycling methods.

Public Education

Promoting awareness on safe disposal practices and the environmental impact of electronic waste.

Incentives & Support

Providing incentives for the collection, transportation, and responsible disposal of e-waste.

Industry Capacity Building

Strengthening trade associations and manufacturers through training and development initiatives.

 

Safe Collection & Recycling

Supporting the safe collection, disposal, and recycling of electrical and electronic waste.

Hazardous Waste Management

Addressing hazardous and related waste matters in line with environmental standards.

Strategic Initiatives

For capacity building of key trade associations and manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment

Monitoring & Enforcement

Ensuring compliance through effective monitoring and regulatory enforcement.

SOURCES OF FUNDING (ACT 1124)

Act 1124 specifies that, the sources of moneys for the Electrical and Electronic Waste Management Fund shall include;

Parliamentary Funding

Approved allocations from Parliament.

Grants & Donations

Voluntary contributions from partners and stakeholders.

Advance Eco-Levy

Levies collected on specified electronic products.

Other Lawful Revenue

Other moneys that become lawfully payable and vested in the Electrical and Electronic Waste Management Fund.
